Single Slope Shed Roof Framing
The skillion and shed style roofs are framed with a single slope 2 4 or 2 6 or thicker rafters spanning from the low wall to the high wall.

A skillion roof is made up of a single flat plane which slopes gradually from top to bottom. Preplanning was essential to the build. Single slope roofs are easy to build and are compatible with almost any architectural style. Turn in a set of building blueprints with a pitch less than 3 12 or build a shed style roof with a low pitch and your building inspector will not pass the construction and provisions will have to be made to get the pitch up to acceptable standards if it is going to be shingled.
The roof pitch is determined by the rise and run of the roof. The greater roof slope sheds snow and water easily too. If you plan to have eaves to protect the shed walls make sure you add the extra length when measuring the rafters. A single slope roof can be built with many pitches or angles from almost flat to steep.
I presently have ample space for storage and no squeak or bounce to the floor. A roof with a slope of 10 degrees 2 12 or less is generally considered a flat roof. Acceptable flat roof coverings include tin roof sheets and pre fabricated plastic sheets.
